Format birth_date column for CSV files for SailThru Import
Birthday Column Setup
- Insert a new column, preferably right next to the dob column, and title the first cell in that column as “birth_date” (without quotes).
- Enter this formula into each cell underneath the header birth_date in the column you just created and choose the first cell number underneath the dob column to replace CELL# : =TEXT(CELL#,”””yyyy-mm-dd”””)
- Example: =TEXT(D2,”””yyyy-mm-dd”””)
- TIP: After inputting the first formula with the actual cell location, you can easily drag the formula down the column through dragging the right bottom corner of the cell when cursor looks like a plus sign.
- Follow previous instructions sent by Amee to set up all other appropriate column headers, save as .CSV, and import as directed.
- When you save the document as a .CSV, the formula will convert to plain text, which allows SailThru to read data appropriately.
- If you want to double check that it saved accurately, close and reopen the file you just saved and click on the cell in which the formula would’ve been in. You should only see plain text showing instead of the formula ex.: “1993-01-23″

Birthday Email Blasts:
On iOneStudios, we have a tutorial for e-blasts. It takes you step-by-step on how to send out an e-blast. Please visit this link for more information: https://ionestudios.com/3709/how-to-create-a-sailthru-e-blast/
IMPORTANT:
- Please request a graphic from Creative Services for birthday email blasts.
- It is highly recommended that there is more text in the birthday email blast as opposed to a single graphic due to potential spamming.
